Yes.. The biggest reveal of the movie ‘The Devil’ is that Dasa Darshan has done double acting in this movie.! In the movie ‘The Devil’, the hero is Darshan, the villain is Darshan! The devil is Darshan, Dhanush is also Darshan. The public hero is Darshan, the CM is also Darshan! If you’re curious to know how, you should watch the movie ‘The Devil’.
One-man show!
There are many surprises in the movie ‘The Devil‘. On one hand, Darshan brings the character of the pure-hearted Krishna to life, while on the other, Darshan has taken on a terrifying avatar as the terrifying Devil. Darshan has done justice to both the characters. Not only that.. Actor Bhargava Dr. Vishnuvardhan, Rebel Star Ambareesh, Karate King Shankar Nag also come and go in the form of Darshan. In one word, ‘The Devil’ is a one-man show for Darshan!
What is the story of the movie ‘The Devil’?
Karunad Praja Party leader Rajashekar is the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Rajashekar is arrested on charges of corruption. As a result, elections are held. Rajashekar wants his son Dhanush to become the CM. However, Dhanush is literally ‘The Devil’. Political astute Anant Nambiar, who has seen Dhanush’s horrific acts, rolls the dice of ‘Krishna’. Dhanush and Krishna are not twins – they are not identical. But they look the same. Their qualities are opposite.! Krishna, who comes to replace Dhanush, contests the elections. Just as Krishna gains fame under the name Dhanush, the real Dhanush enters. What happens next is the real story.
Big star cast
There is no doubt about Darshan’s acting in the film ‘The Devil‘. Darshan has acted well, giving his own mannerisms to the two different characters. The heroine Rachana Rai is not just an eye-candy, Rachana Rai has handled the role given to her well. Achyut Kumar’s acting as a political astute is admirable. Otherwise, Mahesh Manjrekar, Shobharaj, Vinay, Sonia Ponnamma Devaiah, Huli Karthik have played their respective roles neatly. The ‘Bigg Boss’ famed Ghilli Nata is limited to 3 comedy scenes as ‘CBI Shankar’. Actress Sharmila Mandre has a guest role. Furthermore, Vinod Gobragal, Raghavendra, Jagappa of ‘Gicchi Giligili’ fame come and go only in one song.
How is ‘The Devil’ technically?
Director Prakash Veer has brought the film ‘The Devil‘ to the screen in a grand manner. Prakash Veer, who has been making family-friendly films, has this time tackled a story with a political undertone. There is a lack of logic in the story at some points. Sudhakar S Raj’s cameramanship is commendable. The songs composed by B Ajaneesh Loknath are just awful. The background music does not speed up the pace of the story. The total run time of ‘The Devil’ is two and a quarter hours. The editing should have been faster. Some unnecessary scenes could have been cut.
Final Verdict
Darshan has done double acting before. Double acting and the good versus evil formula are old.! Director Prakash Veer has tried to bring the old formula to the screen in a new way like old wine in a new bottle. However, he has stumbled a little here and there. Apart from that, ‘The Devil’ has all the commercial elements. It has everything that the mass audience needs. In that regard, ‘The Devil’ is a treat for the fans of Dasa Darshan. If fans watch ‘The Devil’ without any expectations , they may like it.
